-Khmer food Cooking Class
How to describe Cambodian cuisine? Answering that question probably won’t bean easy job, even for hardcore foodies. Cambodian cuisine is influenced by Chinese and Indian cuisines; it has a bit of Vietnamese and Thai character on some of its dishes, and also has, although vaguely, French influence.
In the past millennium, Cambodia has political links and invaded by its surrounding countries. Each one of its former invaders brought along their culinary traditions and ended up enriching the local culinary tradition.
To understand first hand about the secret of authentic Khmer culinary tradition, take half a day from temple climbing to learn Cambodian cooking in some of Siem Reap’s finest cooking schools.
All cooking schools are lead by trained chefs who are devoted to the authenticity of the divine Khmer culinary tradition. Walk with them to the traditional wet market and learn about the fresh ingredients, how to prepare and incorporate them in Khmer cooking.
-Khmer food
Khmer cuisine is closely related to her neighboring country Vietnam Laos and Thailand, although it is not as spicy. Curries, stir tried vegetable, rice, noodles and soups are staples of the Khmer diet. Cambodia is well known in the region for its Prahok, a strong, fermented fish paste used in a variety of traditional dishes. Rice is the principal staple in Cambodia.
